First Series of the Patchwork Family – Update

We have been a little off-key recently. I hope this will be a good thing. Today, after nearly a week without writing on this story. I began Chapter Ten on my second book. I’m not sure we will write anything after book five is written. We are writing on our other story when we’re not inspired to write on this series. Our other book is an LGBT mystery romance.

Our Patchwork Family second book is called Finding the Rhythm. It took us a while to begin this book. I feel this one will add to the first. Each novel in this series is hard to write. It’s about Shannon becoming part of the family and learning about her brothers. They are her brother as their parents adopted her after her mother died of breast cancer. The subject is close to us, as we survived a brain tumour when we were in our early twenties.

Today we hope to write our second book, with at least 1,000 words written. Right now, we tend to write around or over 2,000 words. I’ve found that this story runs close to our heart. I’ve lost quite a few aunts to breast cancer. Our school friend also died of breast cancer. Our adopted Dad died of skin cancer. I had to write this series as Shannon learns she isn’t responsible for her mother’s illness and learns to move through her grief and learn to trust her new brothers. She was an only child before her mum moved them across the vast ocean.

Victoria Fletcher is Shannon’s birth mother. She died when Shannon was about to hit her tenth birthday. Now, in the second book, she finds that she can get close to her brothers. I hope the second book is as much a part of me. This is a story series I’ve attempted before. I hope you all like this series as much as it heals my heart. I drew on my life experiences for this series.
