The time alone at the rehab centre taught Banjo that he couldn’t trust anyone. He could never trust his father, as he was getting bullied at school when he moved from elementary to high school, because he was gifted. He got bullied by the team, his older brother Jett’s football team. His father told him to toughen up. Banjo was only nine years old.

Banjo hoped his mom would collect him from the rehab centre. A red Dodge Grand Caravan arrived, and out came Banjo’s father. It was the last thing Banjo wanted. Banjo hated this. He did not speak to his father at all. On the arrival at his grandmother’s farm out in the country, miles from his old school, he never had the use of his legs.

Synopsis: Pick a penny up. All day long, you’ll have good luck,’ Banjo thought of the adage as he spotted a penny on the ground and put it in his pocket. It took him a bit to get it into his pocket from his wheelchair.
