I have had ideas for writing a story in ways different from my usual ones. I wanted to write with a different concept. I have never had a concept like this one before. This one I got from reading two of my favourite series. The Dork Diaries and the Confessions of a Nerdy Girl. I love these two series. They are written by two different authors. The same author of Dork Diaries also wrote Misadventures of Max Crumbly. It is another series I intend on collecting.
When you read a series, you look for more like it. There are, and you might not like others like it; then again, you might like others like it. I found out that the author of a Diary of a Wimpy Kid also wrote Diary of an Awesome Friendly Kid. They both have one family in common. Greg, the main character in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. they are in both series. I guess, as the author of both series is the same.
I never expected to like books like these. I stopped reading for a long time. Now these books got me back into reading. I have another book I’ve read, similar to Diary of a 5th Grade Outlaw by Gina Loveless and Andrea Bell. I love this book too. These books should be read post haste.
Now I’m writing my very own journal-type story. It doesn’t have a name yet. I have started it, it has a few entries with doodles in with the entries. I got my ideas from the mixture of diaries I have read. I am not copying or plagiarizing or anything. This is about a family that moves from England to America in search of a new life. One of the teen boys, who is a twin, begins journaling after his single father hands him a diary-like book on their birthday, a month before they are meant to leave. Then their father moves up that date to under a week. This is a new kind of story I have never done. It will be interesting for me. I am British, living in America for twenty years.
